Goodness, its not even summer yet and I am already excited for Fall! It has always been my very favorite season!!!…the colorful foliage; the cool, crisp air; a chance to wear sweatshirts and jeans; and to bake gingerbread and make hearty soups. For some reason last Fall I was very into muffins for like, oh, 3 months. I made everything from blueberry to pumpkin to apple bran. (I certainly hope Steve didn’t get muffin’d out!) I just love that they are so portable, tasty, and the perfect portion. Paired with a fruit smoothie or some eggs and ham, they make a lovely breakfast as well. I think I’m going to start a loaf bread kick for a while. I’d love to give some as gifts this year, so loved ones can use them as snacks or breakfast during the busy holiday season, and I definitely need to practice before gifting them! This is in lieu of giving candy and cookies, because I know a tin or two of goodies is all a household normally needs in the house before self-control goes out the window. I must admit my own motto is usually to keep the sweet stuff out of my cupboards, and yes, Steve will contest that I have been known to throw out pans of well-meaning brownies and cookies. In fact now that I’ve done it a few times, it really comes very easily. In these moments, I’ve thought about passing them on to neighbors and such, but when I really think about it, I’m like who really, honestly needs a whole pan of brownies? (and no, church events do not usually correspond with these treats) Call it lack of self-control, I call it knowing thyself.
